Summer at the Shore

Days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer. It’s summertime, the time of year we all look forward to. We are fortunate enough to experience it each year on the Jersey Shore in Atlantic City. And what celebrates our Jersey Shore way of life more than festivals?
Start your summer off with the
Atlantic City Seafood Festival at its new location on the grounds of Bernie Robbins Stadium on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day. The Atlantic City Surf will follow the festival each night with a baseball game beginning at 7:05 p.m.
Organizers are planning live entertainment during each day of the festival, along with a live radio broadcast. Featured artists currently include No Relation Band, Eddie’s Garage and South Side Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
Join the
Celtic Festival on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10, hosted by Historic Cold Spring Village in Cape May. The event features pipe bands, dance performances, Celtic food, merchandise for sale, puppet shows and live entertainment from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Festival visitors will also receive reduced admission to Historic Cold Spring Village, an early American open-air living history museum.
The
15th Annual Baymen’s Seafood and Music Festival comes alive at Tuckerton Seaport on Saturday, June 23. During the festival, you can sample delicious New Jersey fresh clams, crabs and shrimp, and beer, while enjoying live music, hands-on workshops and demonstrations.
Run by the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce, the
21st annual Red, White and Blueberry Festival held in Hammonton on Sunday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. celebrates Hammonton as the blueberry capital of the world. The festival features blueberry pie eating contests, blueberry bake-offs, and homemade blueberry treats for sale. Visitors can try blueberry cannoli, buckle, blueberry crisps, blueberry syrup on waffles, blueberry turnovers, and blueberry ice cream, as well as traditional fair food.
Live music, a dunk tank, moon bounces and slides, and a DJ add to the festive atmosphere. This free festival features between 75 and 100 crafters exhibiting their work.
The
Red Wine and Blues Festival at the Tuckerton Seaport on Saturday, July 14 is the perfect event for wine and music lovers. Come to the festival and enjoy a late-afternoon wine tasting with samples from some of New Jersey’s finest wineries, along with food, crafts and
blues music. The event takes place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There’s nothing like enjoying cool jazz against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean during the
Eighth Annual Chicken Bone Beach Jazz Concert Series, Thursdays, July 5 through August 30, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Kennedy Plaza on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The performances will feature some of the most renowned and recorded jazz artists as headliners, and provide a venue for emerging and/or established local jazz artists as opening acts.
Explore your artistic side at the
Fourth Annual Atlantic City Arts Alive! Festival, on the Atlantic City Boardwalk near Kennedy Plaza, from Friday, August 10 through Sunday, August 12. Artists from as far as Florida and New England will be on hand to show their work and demonstrate their craft, which includes all media. Festival hours are noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
On Sunday, August 12, the
11th Annual Atlantic County Puerto Rican Parade and Latin Music Festival will take place on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. The parade, which begins at 12 noon, travels the Atlantic City Boardwalk from Albany Avenue to New Jersey Avenue. Following the parade, the celebration continues with the Latin Music Festival at Delaware Avenue between Atlantic and Pacific Avenues.
This is just a taste of all the events and activities taking place in the Atlantic City region over the next couple of months. So, get ready to enjoy one festive summer season.
