Cocker In Concert
Veteran rocker Joe Cocker is set to put his "Heart and Soul" into a special one-night performance on February 4 at the Atlantic City Hilton. The show will also feature a special guest, jazz musician Euge Groove.
With hit records spanning more than four decades, Cocker carved a niche for himself singing rock and soul in the pubs of England with his backing group, the Grease Band. He first hit No. 1 in the U.K. in 1968 with his version of the Beatles' "A Little Help From My Friends," and his career skyrocketed after he sang that song at the Woodstock festival in 1969. A year later, he had sold more than $3 million worth of records in America alone. His albums Cocker, Unchain My Heart and One Night of Sin have all gone platinum.
His duet with Jennifer Warnes on "Up Where We Belong," the theme from An Officer And A Gentleman, brought Cocker an appearance at the 1993 Oscars and became a worldwide hit. Cocker has also sung theme songs for other movies, including 9 1/2 Weeks and Bull Durham. Additionally, he has played many prestigious shows, including a birthday concert for Nelson Mandela and the inauguration ceremony for President George Bush.
Joining Cocker will be Euge Groove, who has been topping the jazz charts since his self-titled release hit the airwaves four years ago. His work appears on albums by Paula Abdul, Elton John and Tina Turner and he was also part of the horn section on the Huey Lewis and the News "Small World" tour.
Show time is February 4 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $45 and available at the Atlantic City Hilton Box Office in the hotel lobby or by calling Ticketmaster.
