Cut Loose! Footloose at Tropicana Is A Winner

The touring shows at Tropicana’s Showroom are hitting consistently high notes. A recent production of Fame set a lofty standard for musicals to follow, and the current show—a stage version of the 1984 movie hit Footloose—is just as much fun.

The story of an exuberant Chicago kid who moves to a rock-ribbed rural community has lost none of its fish-out-of-water appeal. And the energy of this young, attractive cast will bowl you over.

In Ren’s new hometown, a rigid minister has prohibited courting and banned dancing. In fact, in this preacher’s view, every carefree adolescent impulse is an invitation to sin. When Ren falls for the man’s beautiful daughter and fights for the right to dance at the school prom, it’s a musical clash of cultures that will have you singing along.

With tunes like “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” and the title song, the Broadway-caliber cast of Footloose makes this one of the most entertaining musical shows in town. Presented by Jersey Shore Entertainment, Footloose is onstage through November 4. Tickets are $25. For a complete listing of times and dates, visit Tropicana’s official Web site at www.tropicana.net.  Tickets are priced at $25 and can be purchased at Tropicana’s Box Office or through Ticketmaster at 1.800.745.3000 and www.tropicana.net.
