VIDEO GAME REVIEW: The Beatles: Rock Band
"The Beatles: Rock Band" • Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii
For all the bands immortalized with a Rock Band video game title, this is the one many of us have been waiting for. Harmonix brings us John, Paul, George and Ringo in The Beatles: Rock Band.
Similar to other Rock Band titles, this game lets you pick up instrument-shaped controllers and play 45 different songs with the Beatles like you were one of the Fab Four. You are scored on the accuracy of your playing as you follow the Beatles all the way from Liverpool to the rooftop of Apple headquarters.
Like many other music video games, The Beatles: Rock Band gives players the ability to play guitar, bass, drums or vocals, depending on the controller they use.
One new feature that makes this game stand out is the ability to engage in three-part harmonies. Up to three players can join in on the vocals at once, and bonuses are earned when they sync their pitches together. When combined with the other instruments, this feature also allows for up to six players to jump into The Beatles: Rock Band at once, making it the ultimate social video game.
The Beatles: Rock Band is everything a Beatles fan could dream of and more. Apple Corps was even intimately involved with the design of the game to help make it genuine.
With so many classic songs to choose from, a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
